My comrades were all in pure black
In those black forms, with their eyes shining and teeth baring, they were certainly eating something.
And then...

[[The other hollows wanted to attack/eat ulquiorra but he killed them all and climbed out of that pit himself]]

It was possible that what I felt was "void", yet
I could hear nothing,

I could smell nothing
I could feel nothing as I touch
I could not rest
I had no companion
Just walking, alone
The things reflected in my eyes have no meaning
The things that could not be reflected in my eyes, do not exist.

When I had arrived at that thought
I have found something extraordinary
It was, somewhat, the place of birth for those strange, translucent objects that dotted this world.
It was the first time my eyes have been captured.
With no colour,
With no sound,
With no scent,
Does not interact with anything,
It only exists there.
It was the closest existence to "void" that I had ever laid eyes on.

I sank my body into that great "void"
There was nothing there,
Even I had lost my line of vision, and dissolved into the void,
And felt as if everything had disappeared.
Happiness.

Orihime: Wah! You scared me!
I was going to wake you up, but you're awake. I got surprised.
But I was relieved, to know that Ulquiorra-kun could actually sleep
Ulquiorra: .........It's Ulquiorra.

When you call me, call me "Ulquiorra"
Call me only that.
If such a thing called happiness exists in this world, it should be something which resembles the limitless nothingness.
Nihility is having nothing, and having nothing to lose.
If that isn't "happiness", then what is?

Newborn!Ulquiorra speaks in a very archaic fashion, he does talk a bit more modernly during the arrancar arc. Interesting to note.

I just woke at 2 a.m., found the DHL tracking number for my copy of UnMasked (it just left Japan on a plane :cry) and your translation and MzD's scans at BA of Kubo's chapter.

Oh man, I'm starting to get lured into the UlqOri fandom more and more. I'm still sticking up with IshiOri but I have to admit, UlqOri relationship is very deep and beautiful. Almost makes me wish Ulq was a human so bet can be with Inoue without too much hassle!

Ulquiorra talks about having no companion----> next scene we have him sleeping on the couch while Orihime acts almost domestic around him if they weren't prisoner and captor.
Ulquiorra is the outcats amongst his bretheren----> Orihime treats him like a human and includes him that way.
Ulquiorra thinks the word "happiness"----->in the next panel he wakes up to Orihime's face.
Draw your own conclusions :P

i'm no ulq/hime fan but it was sooo obvious that he had some intrest in her,also the comic has romantic undertone and is very shippy.
IMO the all dome pisco was to highlight Ulquiorra and not ichigo. kubo made it realy clear when it was ulq who saved ichigo,ishida and hime so it's quite Irritate me that ulq still considered "monster" and i'm not even his fan.
it's funny that people think when someone is changed by a girl, or when girl can touched\reach guy's heart and has so much impact on him and on his viewpoint it's not romantic- no way jose.
but if the girl has a crush on a guy becouse he's making funny faces and he smell nice then it's real love.
overall the comic made me like ulquiorra more.

Date: 2011-06-03 10:26 am (UTC)Pretty much all we get in terms of previous history is what Ulquiorra looked like as a hollow (how funny that he had bat wings down near his waist. I'm reminded of Morrigan from Darkstalkers. XD) and that he's the second confirmed natural arrancar of the Espada.
His monologuing and the last 3 pages or so were definitely a fine way to make me care about Bleach for five more minutes though. I can't squee as effectively as the fangirls, so I'll leave it at that. ^^
