Discussion for the weekend.

Beyond the many Ban Kai Kubo has yet to show us and all the debatable growing up the kids have to do, there are so many unresolved tangents in Bleach that it would take Sensei  a nice ten years at least to thoroughly pick up all the loose threads, wouldn't you say? Given our manga-ka's propensity for dropping a thread and then picking it up a hundred or more chapters later, Bleach can sometimes resemble a very wooly carpet.

What are some of your favorite loose threads and what do you think are the chances of their being woven back into the glorious Bleachverse tapestry in some spectacular way?

For example, I've always been slightly pissed that we never got a resolution to the fact that Ishida had all those spy bacteria in him by Mayuri--did he get them out? Did Orihime undo that nasty business when she healed him? But I'm resigned to the fact that this loose thread may not be very important to the Master Tapestry. More important is the fact that Aizen got locked away with the hougyoku still inside him. And how about that BIG GIANT CLUE that Kubo threw in chapter 00b about Rukia's mystery visit to Earth with Kiyone--that's overdue some explanation. Rukia's connection to hougyoku. How about Orihime's vow to destroy the hougyoku? That got brought up in one panel and never touched about again. Don't even get me started about Orihime hints of development from Kubo that have gotten nerfed.

So, while we're all cozying up to some guaranteed Isshin backstory now, there's still a LOT of unresolved Bleach to bitch about. What are your favorite seemingly forgotten tangents? (I'm sure Sensei hasn't forgotten them--he's just slow and sadistic XD)

Eh, since it was mentioned twice with a lot of drama, I don't think it will be overlooked. Kubo brings things to our attention a lot and that seemed to be a big deal, at least for Renji's character. It will be brought up, I'm sure.

Concerning Rukia and the hougyoku, am I the only one who thought Urahara placed it with in her when he gave her the gigai? Aizen mentioned it during the SS arc and a flashback of Urahara and Rukia appeared. Isn't that when he placed it in her? Or maybe it's much more complicated and I'm a bit ignorant... Yeah, that's probably it...

Ah, thank you for the info. I remember saying in Bleach Asylum that it's possible Rukia was given the hougyoku long before that, but so many people bashed me for it. So I just accepted it. I never really went back to that part of BA again.

Well, it's possible Urahara and Yoruichi placed it within her much earlier, like as a child. Or just Urahara, but I'd like to think Yoruichi is heavily involved.

It's either something very simple or something that will bring about more mysteries, knowing Kubo. I think I saw that he wanted to continue the story for ten more years (true?). So he has room to stretch out a bunch more questions to keep us speculating.

May I ask, why do you believe Yoruichi is involved? I never thought of that and I am very curious now. XD

I think most of my line of thought is that Kisuke and Yoruichi are "partners in crime" most of the time. They always know what the other is doing. But I suppose you mean what canon event really caused me to believe that--I have no evidence, really. Sorry. XD

Ah, that's ok. I do know what you mean though, it would be very strange to think that Yoruichi doesn't know anything about Urahara's plans and/or ideas. But then the question is why would she get involved in it? Ah, this would make for interesting story telling. :p

Wait so Rukia had the hougyoku long before Urahara gave her the gigai but I always thought thathe deactivated it and placed it within the depths of a Shinigami's soul, Rukia Kuchiki's soul. By giving her a special Gigai, which would eventually turn her soul into a normal human soul permanently, so it would hide the Hōgyoku forever.Or he knew she had the hougyoku before that...I'm a bit of a newb at this but I thought that he was the one who put it inside of her.

but Aizen has lied about everything he said, I think twisting and reversing what he said would have a lot more sense; thus, the hougyoku was set on her loooong before. It gives me creeps he knew and why he did knew it.

Well, Aizen did have (or still does) those powers of illusions. It's possible he spied on Urahara frequently and figured it out for himself.
