What was I saying just yesterday about Ichigo mastering his many selves at a great price? This sounds damn spooky! Bandages and a similarity to Ulquiorra's second resurrection according to Ohana. Yikes. And even longer hair! I wonder how the fangirls will react to it being black--I do admit I've always had a thing for Zangetsu's long black locks. A dreamy tortured poet quality there.
Methinks we're up for some angsty Ichigo in months ahead....

Date: 2010-09-14 12:14 pm (UTC)Considering what's going on here and the fact that Isshin has a similar zanpakuto to Ichigo and he too lost his powers once (was it the same way, I wonder?), does anyone think that maybe SS planned this? Maybe they knew about what happened with Isshin's powers and upon seeing Ichigo and his insane strength, made the connections to Isshin and thought they could kill two birds with one stone. Have Ichigo, who is supposedly the only one who hasn't seen Aizen's shikai, take out Aizen, while simultaneously losing his own shinigami powers. So that takes away one huge threat and another potential threat to SS. I wouldn't put it past SS to do this.
And T_T Ichigo. He's back to being powerless again. But he's doing it because he must. This explains so much about how he was acting. So stoic and calm with a hint of sadness and acceptance. In his eyes, this may be his last battle as a shinigami. I'm having flashbacks to every time Ichigo shouted that he's a shinigami. He was so proud of that part of himself. And now it's gone T_T OH ICHIGO :'(

but Isshin has his powers back and so does Ishida. All is not lost.

For one thing; dont change the hero's looks like this. Ichigo! Your lovely orange hair:( Bad for the hero, bad for the fans..generally bad.
Secondly; it drastically reduces Ulquiorras chances of getting back, now that we have alot of "mini"-ulquiorras walking around (Zangetsu, Ichigo..hmm?)

"Mugetsu" - Moonless Sky - after all this time that Kubo has waxed on the metaphor of the moon as a guiding light in the darkness, this attack really conveys a sense of hopelessness; an ultimatum in which there is no taking back. It strikes so deep it makes Tensa Zangetsu - the stoic teacher and guardian of Ichigo's soul - weep. Such a price Ichigo is paying to be a protector.
Perhaps the break between this and regaining his powers - cause he will, assuming no shenanigans by the Royal Realm - will be just what he needs to recollect himself, rest, and gain a little perspective.

From what we've seen characters with awe inspiring power have been very, very lonely. So, I'm kind of happy for him now.

I guess it makes sense during the Byakua and Ulquiorra fights Ichigo was nearly finished for good, but the difference in SS arc is that Ichigo had the strength to overcome his hollow and win his own battle.
Ichigo is now completely fused with Zangetsu?! This Man/Boy/Zanpakuto/LongHair hibrid totally blew me out of the water!!
I will now wait patiently for the epicenes to ensue next chapter...

I mean he's always had some innate spiritual power. How far will this go? I'm just thinking because if he won't be able to see spirits anymore, he probably won't be able to see Shinigami anymore either. We'll see I guess.

Date: 2010-09-15 06:45 am (UTC)IS sad cause Ichigo is gonna lost everything that makes him feel complete and capable and happy: the power to protect. This kid with the hero complex, who loves his family, his friends is gonna lost those powers and his shinigami self.
But it has a bright side. Ichigo with those power levels was moving so fast and so far away from his friends. The power gap between them was immense, a fact that we can witness after seeing Ichigo fight against Aizen as an equal as anyone from SS or the Vizards can't do. And the reason that made him think that he has to be the only one doing the protecting. But without that Ichigo has to learn how to trust in his friends and became closer again among them.
Such contradictory feelings there.
