Kubo answers fan questions on Jump!Bang

The BA thread is here with screenshots and Japanese text and some fan translations. Kubo-sensei didn't appear himself on the Japanese television show but he did answer three fan questions which included the information, briefly, that it takes him "some time" (eta: actually, no time!) to come up with a character for a story--the ideas pop in his head and then he does drawings, that it is not in Shunsui's character to defeat Aizen right away, and that Kubo may write a side story explaining why Matsumoto became a Shinigami.

We're awaiting full translations of the rest of the stuff there.

ETA: and we have a thorough translation from nacchan under the cut.

people assembled in the conference room (jump-spot?). In there all of those good kids are playing Yamanote-line game. When one little kid says "Rukia" my heart was thumping ver fast ^^ (from excitement)

AN : Yamanote is japanese drinking game. This game started with participants required to go around in a circle naming stations on the Yamanote line. Even if a different category is picked, it is still called the Yamanote-sen Game. Each participant must answer in rhythm with clapping, and must drink if they are unable to give an answer or give an answer not in the category. In this case the stations name are substituted with BLEACH character name.

・次に良い子の皆でブリーチ・キャラカルタをしつつ、ブリーチ愛をアピール。皆すごいｗ 鬼道の解説の背景が蒼火墜を撃つルキアさんでそれだけで心臓がバクバク言った私＾＾ 朽木兄妹の暖簾いいですよね。

after that the kids then playing BLEACH character cards, that really appealed their love to BLEACH. Everyone is amazing (laugh). The backdrop showing Rukia firing soukatsui, that's enough to make my heart rate going so fast ^^. The Kuchiki siblings reputations are really amazing.

after that it's the combination of spoiler pictures and a comedic session, and then they took a commentary from a 12 years old boy who spent 2 years drawing BLEACH everyday. The boy is so cute and his younger brother is also very cute when he said 'Onii-chan daisuki!' ^^

I can't imagine a Rangiku backstory that doesn't include references to Gin. And it would probably answer the questions of how long Gin and Rangiku lived together, when they separated, etc. (perennial topics of discussion in GinRan circles. ^_^)

I dont care about Rangiku in the least. Here's a brilliant idea. Rather than
adding a whole new 'side story' why dont you bring some of those characters that just suddenly disappeared into Hueco Mundo. Remember Byakuya? A little character by the name of Rukia? Either one ring a bell, no? Yah, that's what I thought.

I'm with you. I hope he means "side story" as in "end of chapter sketch filler story" as opposed to "tying up valuable chapters that could further the main storyline".

Forgoing main story for fanservice = do not want. Tying up loose ends in HM (and there's a lot of those) = want. :/

Well, Rangiku's backstory will tie a lot with Gin's backstory hopefully. So IMO it will not be a mere side story. Hopefully it will explain why Gin decided to join Aizen

Seconded (thirded?). This past chapter has reminded me of exactly why I got into this show, and it's all good that we have so many secondary and terciary characters; at this point, however, I kinda would like a bit more focus on the charcaters that got most of us into the show to begin with. I hope the other responder to this post is right in that this will tie into the current plot and Gin's inevitable downfall.

Unfortunately, we're doomed to get new characters when the Royal Realm arc comes around. D= I am not looking forward to this very much.

Personally, I'm actually looking forward to these new characters. XD I'm keenly interested in Hikifune in particular and have high hopes for more badass women (eg Yoruichi... though her last performance was dismal, admittedly) that aren't just eyecandy (eg Halibel). Most of my hopes are set on seeing whether or not Kubo can come up with characters that aren't anything like the captains. The remix he did of most of them in HM was a little disheartening even if he gave them all very compelling.

In short, I feel like RR is a second chance for Kubo to prove himself on the character design front, and if not, well, I'll still be reading, naturally, but I reserve my right to critique and headdesk.
