Bleach Episode 272

I have been waiting for someone to post on this episode...or maybe I got over eager. My first entry here and do forgive ignorance on certain things. Hope Deb won't mind...

After the fiasco of the previous episode with Ishida's hand intact, I was quite apprehensive about Ulquiorra's final episode but aarrrggghh, talk about gut wrenching. I love this espada and its sad that he is now gone from the anime too...*wails*
I nearly cried in the manga...and I can't speak about my current reaction. But good job Morita and Daisuke...
Loved it? Hated it? Cried over it? What did you think?

There were some details I wasn't crazy about, but I loved the episode as a whole. Ulquiorra's death hit me even harder than it had in the manga -- I don't know if it's because the scene looked more desolate here, or because I still had the anime to look forward to, a year ago.

Still hoping Kubo brings him back.

ETA: Also, props to Ulquiorra's, Ishida's and Ichigo's VAs. Daisuke injected incredible emotion into his lines without sounding OOC; Noriaki reminded me once again what a Big Damn Hero his character is; and Morita broke my heart with the almost-crying.

There were some details I wasn't crazy about

I missed Ulquiorra's glance of WTF amazement when Orihime ran to Ichigo's fallen body after Ulqui had just saved them all from IchiThing's cero. Other than that, Ulquiorra's eyes turning from yellow to white worked really well in animation--you could see the demon leaving and the human emerging. The OLD BLEACH MUSIC was nice!

The seiyuu were all amazing.

I put off watching the streaming raw as long as I could because I knew it was going to get to me, and it did. Ah, Ulqui, ouch, ouch, ouch, ouch, what a hurty episode. I miss you so much after all this time, still.

I agree about Ulquiorra's death... I almost cried. Maybe because it's animated, and you can actually see and hear it happen (awesome voice acting + music). Those boy VAs killed it. So good.

Hells yeah, the boy seiyuu. While I love manga Orihime, I have real issues with anime Orihime and Yuki Matsuoka is part of it. She just didn't get as emotional as I expected her to this episode--or the previous one. I wanted more terror and angst in her screams. Her voice range seems shallow to me is all. But yeah, the boys rocked the house.

I did cry. I feel stupid but I'm still all verklempt.

Ooh, THANK YOU for this! I can't stand how unemotional and bland her voice is 99.9% of the time. There's just no passion. When Uryuu was stabbed, she sounded like she was calling to him from across the park. Dx

I just was totally unmoved by Orihime in this eppie...

But gosh, Ichigo sounded like he was about to cry...I was close to tears at that point...and darn Ulquiorra for being so...so...*hides face in pillow*

Waah, I fainted multiple times in this episode when I watched it raw. xDD Now that I watched the subbed version.. I died.

The episode was one of the best of Bleach for me so far. And the omake was HILARIOUS. Oh, Ryuuken. You really do love your son.

And Ishida was just.. waaaah! Teh heroo.

I also liked the way they ended the ep. It touched me. *_*

The VA's were PERFECT. :P

I knew this episode was going to be painful, and it was very much so. I can now honestly say I like Ulquiorra, and of course that's real convenient, timing-wise. -_- So glad DB got the "heart" translated right, instead of their previous use of "soul". And the seiyuu! Ack, stop being so talented. (lol)

My only real complaint (aside from inconsistent censorship) is they blazed through this fight so quickly. I would have liked to have seen it go on at least another two or three episodes. If the pacing in this fight is setting precedence for future fights, I don't have much hope for the top 3 Espada lasting through even half the summer. :/

I love how DB translated Yammi calling Ishida a "four-eyed twink". XD Yammi, where did you learn that word?

I loved the episode.
I'm not Ulquiorra fan and do not care about him much, but I found his death very touching.
Ishida was perfect. Also loved the omake. Papa cares! (As if I have ever thought otherwise... *is Ryuuken's fan*)

The *look* Ishida gives Ichigo when he realizes he's about the behead Ulquiorra gets me everytime...except I'm rocking a killer case of bronchitis right now, and I'm hacking and crying in bed with my laptop, and my poor bf walks in, takes one look at me with IchiThing on the screen, and slowly backs away...

It hurts, all around.

But SERIOUSLY, ISHIDA T_____T I'm not even a huge fan of him (love him, but he's not really up there in my top 10 characters), but GUH. Poor guy, he's just been so perfect for the past few episodes and everything has been so un-perfect for him. For some reason it got to me more than it did in the manga. Please somebody give this boy a hug!!!!

Overall it was well done and heart wrenching. The music as well very fitting. I had a couple of tears at the very end of it. All the seiyuus were awesome! I loved Ishida's determination to stop Ichigo, his seiyuu was great delivering that, Also Morita's performance. Ichigo's increasing displease and realization of all thing he had done to the culmination on the near break down at the end " not wanting to win that way " was done beautifully. The Ulquihime hand reaching was gorgeous and bittersweet T_____T.

"tasukeru" x3 "ore ga, tasukeru" this part broke my heart tbh, he sounded so 'dead' and emotionless even with the (cool) hollow voice overlay i couldnt hear any emotional inflections (go morita) but man that touched me to hear ichigo sound so dead like that.

also shame on periot for the sucky mask break, first the its not shattered by the cero... then they dont even show ichigo's hollow eyes (black&yellow) *groan*.

Ishida was perfect felt like i was 'watching' the manga :)

I continue to take issue with the pacing, though. They are racing through these chapters. It makes me wonder if there really was some concern over the violent content and the studio decided to just get these chapters over with quickly. Also, I'm confused by the slow-mo usage. Inch-by-inch of Ichigo's sword passing by Ulquiorra's face - why is that important? *casts penetrating glance toward StudioPierrot* There were other more significant things going on there, you know . . .

After IchiThing cut down Ulquiorra there was this great thump. When IchiThing was walking toward Ulquiorra each of his foot steps went thump, thump, thump, thump. IchiThing falls down after Ulquiorra chops his horn *big thump* I'm just saying . . .

I admit I did not cry over this episode, but it was truely well animated.

But but but, what will happen to Ulquiorra's seiyuu?? D:.

I'll be sad to hear him in another anime after this one.
