Animation of the Lust Arc

I'm surprised no one's made a post yet. I've had a lot of reactions, outraged and delighted, in the past couple weeks, but from the streaming raws this morning I'm just weary and disappointed once and for all.  Ulquiorra's transformations were what I was looking forward to for a whole year and they're over, and while we have Daisuke Namikawa reciting the Lust poem in this week's preview (sexy, sexy--I guess that clarifies that he was the speaker of his own volume poem for any hold-outs who were still arguing to the contrary), I don't think I can watch next week's episode. My Ishida wasn't probably mutilated, you see. *cries*  Studio Perriot did get his hand dirty, though. A Quincy with a dirty hand is going to look so noble in his lunge to catch a monster-reiatsu-blown Orihime and in stopping that beast with his UNdirty hand while making a quiet plea for his nakama's humanity.



Eh, I'm not going to get into the plot variations. Loly was OOC and this week's episode took perilous gambles with the manga sequence of events. Animation has been spotty throughout, ranging as usual in Bleach from bad to great, but the Ulquiorra bits have been good for the most part so as an Ulquiorra fan I've been about mostly happy. As a hardcore Ishida fan, I'm a very unhappy camper this morning.

The fact that he's lost his arm was crucial! You DON'T replace that with a DIRTY HAND...!

And what about stabbing him with Zangetsu? Are they going to change that to? A scratch maybe? :/

As much as I don't want Ishida to get hurt ;_; can't we be a LITTLE more closer to manga material?

I just watched this episode and.. what I found odd was how come they let Ulquiorra's arm be removed and Ishida's hand not. I mean, what's the point? if they had to censor it so bad, at least show some blood! The SFX after Ulquiorra grabbed his hand couldn't just make his hand dirty.. -.-

I also thought it was one of the best episodes so far generally speaking.

Also, Ulquiorra kept tail-whipping Ishida! What are you, Ulquiorra? A Pokemon?

Oh, and, I think it's because of the crappy quality, but I thought Orihime said "Ishidaa" only and Ishida said "Inoue-sama". Weiird.

Though, I did like the way Ishida saved Orihime from the face-plant bomb.

I liked the episode, even though my heart kinda broke for Ulquiorra, Orihime and Ishida all over again. I thought the fights were nicely animated.

Aside from that -- and despite their various missteps over the latest episodes -- many thanks to Studio Pierrot for Omae no subete wo hossuru. Did not see that coming. ♥

Studio Peirrot has been censoring a lot of stuff lately. I'm not surprised that they chose such a...mild editing option, but I am surprised that they kept Ulquiorra's arm being torn off. I suppose its to keep focus on how brutal and animalistic Ichithing is. I dunno, its early, I need coffee.

I guess they couldn't edit the tearing off Ulqui's limb, because they wouldn't be able to make the scene when Ulqui regenerates it and that would've mean to completely change the plot and cut off a lot of the original manga?. If they could they would make IchiThing and Ulqui just holds hands into the sunset instead >:((.
*SIGH* I am getting really sick of their censoring liberties lately. The more serious and war-like Bleach gets, the more censoring they do and it is getting ridiculous, that way they are even making the plot suffer.
I'm just waiting for all of them to just kiss and make up with a "just kidding you guys", since it is turning into a bit of a joke. I haven't even seen the episode yet, but judging by previous episodes and the picture of Ishida, they are just screwing it up.

There's something strange in this ep. Have you heard the heartbeat from Ichigo? Where did that sound come from? Especically when Ulqui did blow that heart into ash with Cero Oscuras.

No blood or black blood like muddy water made the animation look dirty.

Ulqui had to go such trouble to make Ishida's hand dirty?

But Ulqui panting in hard breath and reciting LUST POEM is full of LOVE.

And I guess we have to wait for the subs but it appears Ichigo rises up after SEEING Orihime and Ishida... ? I'm confused. This kinda blows a hole in the he rose up for a beloved theory which I never bought but it makes IchiThing rising up for his friends and throws credence to the good guy Monster which is UGH.

Well, girl, remember how we were wondering what the anime was going to do with the pronoun issue? "I will protect" or "I will protect her?" (I was guessing the latter) The IchiOri fans aren't celebrating because the anime had Ichigo say "I will protect them " as in Orihime and Ishida.

This totally botches up Orihime's guilt issue too now.

edit: correction: Annie says that in the Japanese raw there's no pronoun: Ichigo says "I will PROTECT" so it's the Chinese sub that says "I will protect THEM"

I think it is an utterly stupid choice on the part of the animators, and I hope that it will come back to bite them later should Ishida's missing hand turn out to be a Plot Point in the manga. That'll show them.

THEY COULD'VE AT LEAST PUT SOME BLOOD ON THE ARM AND HAND, TO INDICATE HIS AT LEAST BADLY INJURED :((. Blah! I knew that they were going to downplay and white wash some things (I was outraged when they turn blood spills into just spit. Bloody Ichigo looked great in the SS arc and showcased his sacrifice), but this is really going to be so boring and not all that epic for Ishida T_______T.
I'm sure IchiThing is going to just sit down and play chess with Ulquiorra for a really shameful "check-mate", instead of blowing him to pieces and then drink some Earl Grey tea afterwards while he vaporizes in the air and have a jolly good time >:(.
Last week I was a bit disappointed to see an Orihime rolling on the floor Military style, promptly getting up and ran towards Ichigo, when Ishida falls flat on his face and now... this *sigh*.
NOBODY BLEEDS ANYMORE... JUST GETS DIRTIED UP A BIT.
Ulqui has looked good though XD, I give them that one.

There wasn't that "I owe you" from Loli to Inoue in manga, as well as there weren't Inoue healing Yammilated Loli etc. Inoue x Loli friendship stuff. She just pulled her dagger, released it and died in a matter of seconds.

I haven't watched the new episode yet, but last weeks episode was so good. Ulquiorra was so sexy, I couldn't ask for anything more... ♥

I would have LOVED this episode if I hadn't known what really happend. I don't really get how they can show a huge hole through the main protagonist’s chest and yet can't show one of his nakama's hand cut off. Lack of blood I can understand and am used too but not something which actually makes an impact on a scene's drama and character's emotions. I'll give them this though- the snap after the fade to black was awesome.

I feel mixed about this whole battle so far. I loved seeing Renji and Sado fighting together and I enjoyed the filler scene but something about it made it feel really detached. Normally in-canon filler is undetectable or close enough that even hard-core Bleach fans sometimes confuse filler momements for actually happening yet for some reason i didn't feel that with the Renji/Sado fight. I enjoyed the extended Ishida/Yammi fight and felt that it flowed pretty well but disliked Rukia needing her Nakama's help. The Ichigo/Ulquiorra part of the fight has so far been pretty awesome and even if the emotion was not as clear in the anime's art as it was in the manga's it remained thrilling (probably thanks to the great music choices). Orihime's and Ishida's parts weren't handled as well as they should have- ok some Ishida moments have down right sucked- but their seiyuu's did a great job and whenever they have been shown in the same scene you can feel an amazing chemistry between them (even more than the manga).

I guess as long as I don’t think too much about what happened in the manga the fight is exciting and really enjoyable but when i start to do a page by page comparison I feel disappointed. I had long ago decided to let anime be anime and manga be manga and accept each for what they were and I suppose I should stick that instead of complaining but… I just wouldn’t be a fangirl if I did that ;)

I did sort of like the fact that the beating Ishi took seemed to distract Orihime from her Ichigo-centric freak out. I got more of an impression that she was calling out to Ichi on behalf of Uuryu rather than herself. It made her "what am I going to do?" into a "What am I going to do to save Ishida-kun?" At least that's the way it seemed to me.

The fight was cool but I want to see it in HQ because the vocals were out of sync in LQ and it really threw the timing off.

So when Ichigo tells Rukia that he left Inoue healing Ishida up on the dome, he may probably mean her wiping his hand with a wet cloth to remove the dirt...

They had better not mess up with Soi-fon's hand...seriously...we want to see the degenration...not her hand turning into ash...

Oh gosh am so annoyed...but I did love the preview and the encyclopedia...I miss Gin in the anime...
