Gooood Morning! Yays and yays! The raw is out at BA and there's a New Year's Spread--the nakama going to temple. LOL, looks like Chad and Ishida are temple virgins. They're tiny but everyone else is awesome. Orihime (I was depressed about her yesterday and started drawing my own New Year's pic of her) looks especially pretty. She was a blip in the last spread and she's foreground here. Just a photograph of the spread for now but will update this post.




The spread is classic Kubo, so beautiful. I could cry for Orihime
being prominent again.
But tiny Ishida with tiny Chad as the temple virgins? LOL.
Well, someone always has to be tiny for the sake of depth
and composition ... it's a beautiful spread.

Ichigo is getting more and more handsome as time goes by. Cute Orihime, we missed you! Maybe this spread is hinting for some postive nakama time in the future. This spread is really beautiful. Loved the clothes and myths references thar Kubo. (And Ishida and Chad are temple virgins? XD)

Those are not weasels that are on Ichigo's haori, they're definitely white snakes. I recognised them immediately due to self made personal research of Orochimaru and his relation to white snakes. I guess I have to thank Kishit for something after all.

Hah, whilst typing down all of this, I realised that pretty running Rukia is very distracting. So pretty~ 83

As-I-am-reading-observations:

-Woo! Aizen got cut! Seems that Shinji's power is related to his upside down/reflection ability. But is anyone reminded of Tesla's zanpakutou in its design with the circle?

-So wait, Aizen deals Tousen the deathstroke? Seems like that to me.

-Oh Ichigo, busting out of the sky ala Urahara with your eyes open.

Hmm, now for a little actual analysis of the raws. One thing I found VERY interesting is where Ichigo is LOOKING when he comes out of the sky. As far as I can tell he's focused on Aizen, which can mean either that Aizen IS IN FACT THERE, which has been a bit of a question surrounding the FKT fight, OR that Ichigo has also already seen Kyoko Suigetsu and he too is seeing the illusion. I really think it can go either way, for while I think there is a case that Ichigo saw Aizen's shikai on the sokyoku hill, there's also a possibility that he didn't (honestly, how would he know?).

To backtrack, I don't have much speculation about the Koma/Shuuhei/Tousen reunion. I think there's some sort of reconciliation, which would explain Koma's outrage and Shuuhei' horror when Tousen explodes in blood. The reaction seems to indicate that Aizen is at fault (which calls into question WHERE HE IS and how he did it).

The fight between Shinji and Aizen is just epic, I'm SO excited to actually read the dialogue and, if it is true and not an illusion, I am SO excited to see Aizen get cut and look perturbed. I'm personally rooting for this not being an illusion, since I think Shinji is of a level where he should be able to take on Aizen. Still not sure he can win (though Ichigo's sudden appearance leads me to believe he won't die) but we'll see.

Also, let's not forget Unohana is right behind Ichigo. I expect she'll go straight to healing people but let us recall that Unohana is considered the third strongest shinigami in Sereitei and one of the few Aizen feared.

Oh, wow...Orihime looks so sad. Very, very pretty, but where is all the girlish enthusiasm we normally see from her?

Ichigo and Renji are both smiling (Ichigo is sexy when he smiles...) and Rukia is enthusiastically running towards the shrine, but Orihime looks a little lifeless compared to pre-HM.

Oh, you poor, poor girl. I want to hug her.

But what a gorgeous spread. I'll wait for better quality raws before checking out the actual chapter, but's it's a beautiful spread.

Aww, two WEEKS before the next chapter :(

TBH, Shinji's shikai is exactly like curses in video games where they temporarily reverse your character controls, so that you walk in the opposite direction of what you want. This results in your character walking like a drunk. Has Kubo-sensei been playing some games? XD

Orihime looks pretty - I like how both she and Rukia have their hair up, it's very nice. <3 And LOL, it's true, for once, Renji doesn't look tacky.

The chapter was quite good. The Tousen/Komamura/Hisagi scene is the highlight of the chapter for me XDD ...Oh and Aizen getting cut by Shinji's attack was unexpected, but it's good to know that he isn't as 'invincible' as some of his fanboys might think.

The spread was very pretty, but I'm sadden that we don't see Rukia's face at all :( ...Orihime being in the foreground is fine considering she barely showed up in previous spreads.

Btw, has anyone find out whether there are movie 4 info on this issue? I could have sworn I recall somebody saying last week that there will be some information about the upcoming movie on this SJ.

Loved the chapter. Tousen dies unredeemed but regains a slither of his humanity. Komamura gets some closure while Shuuhei gets very little - if any. It was bad enough when poor Shuuhei had to deal Tousen the killing blow, but to actually have to see Tousen die violently from that blow clearly horrified him. I really do adore the way that Shuuhei and Komamura play off each other - Komamura's anger towards Aizen seemed to be because of Shuuhei's utter grief and horror over killing Tousen.

I don't think Komamura thought that Aizen was to blame so much for Tousen's downfall (the responsibility lays largely with Tousen himself), but he does seem to blame Aizen for the fact Shuuhei had to kill him and the resulting trauma.

They both need a big hug.

Why did I not see that coming? I was hoping for Tousen to see his face, but no, Aizen had to ruin the moment. Although Tousen is still a douchebag, from this chapter I cannot hate him as much as I used to, I cannot.

Me loves the spread, Orihime looks so pwetty. Lol. Chad and Ishida are temple virgins!!?? LMAO. Rukia reminds me of a little girl who is exicted to be at the fair. Ichigo and Renji, well, don't they always look nice. Scratch that, doesn't Ichigo always look nice.

Wow, are we sure that's Chad and Ishida up there? The size looks right but what else I can see of them looks weird. Ishida's hair, especially. (If that's what it is.) Or is he wearing a hat or something?

And temple virgins? Hahahaaa! I must know more about this. I'd especially like to know more about what everyone is wearing. Are those short cloaks something that's worn in winter, or to temple? (And if everyone is in those short cloaks, why on earth isn't Ishida wearing one too! That's like his trademark!)

Beautiful art, but... I have to admit, I'm tired of Ishida always being this tiny figure in the background of the spreads. The last time he was even close to being forefront was in the picnic spread. Wahh! Kubo, why are you forgetting my favorite character? I thought you liked him. Don't abandon our Quincy!

I think they're wearing some sort of black hat. Tbh, I can't really tell if that's Chad & Ishida, but I don't think Kubo has drawn random people before on spreads. So, it must be them.

And yeah, those are some sort of coats that are worn over a kimono. There was a New Year spread I saw before of Ichigo, Rukia, Kon, Matsumoto, & Hitsugaya posing in front of a temple. I think it was sold on Jump Festa 1-2 years ago. I have the picture of it on my external hard drive, but I don't have time to upload it at the moment. I don't know whether it's an official Kubo art but I think Matsumoto, Rukia, & Hitsugaya were wearing something similar to those cloaks (actually more like the ones Renji & Orihime were wearing).

I really love that spread. They are all very adorable. =) Especially Rukia. Renji looks like a Japanese thug. And Ichigo, you don't have your scowly eyebrows? What is going on here? It's pretty cute. Why does Kubo like to draw Orihime eating?

Also. Shinji, bragging about your sword is a very dumb idea. You have no right to be shocked that Aizen got better than you. But you may have gotten a hit on him, for that I commend you. No seriously. Even if it was a total fake out, I am completely satisfied that bastard got hit. So cathartic. XD Also, Shinji looked pretty hot. Am I the only one who, after reading the summary, had dirty thoughts about two men comparing each others' swords?

And Hisagi's expression. That poor boy. D= I want to give him a hug. Komamura...poor Komamura, a true friend to the end. Please don't rush Aizen, he will just gut you. Insert pbligatory "I hate you Aizen" comment here.
