The detail Pheleon works on is amazing! These are large plushies, 18 inches tall, and Ishida is posable with that awesome weaponry of his. I love how Pheleon paints eyes--no other plush maker is as good at capturing expressions as she is.



I love it that she got Ishida's little toughie megane expression down pat. Here he is about to launch his Seele Schneider! I 'm going to have so much fun with these plushies. Expect pic spams when they arrive at my house!




Oh, and the new chapter is out, a Sleepy Fans speed scan right here. Lots of people were impatient to get to the IchiUlqui fight but....!



Hey, I'm all about taking my sweet time like Stark if there's going to be fun character details like the one Kubo gives us here.

I'm with the gang that believes Shiro-chan should have his ass handed to him on a platter by Halibel--no other outcome will be satisfactory. I do NOT want a fanservice unexpected power-up victory for the little squirt, as much as I love him.

STARK! *flails around* I just love him so much.

Those are adorable! I'm not into dolls really but these guys are incredible, and you're right, the expressions are so well done. Such great details!

The manga is very interesting this week. Stark -- so perfect, and I so don't want him to be killed. I'm with you on Shiro needing his ass handed to him, and maybe Matsumoto saving him. My Detect Foreshadowing gene is wondering if we're going to lose Omaeda, but with the way they've been taking the micky out of him the whole time... I dunno. It's more Kubo's style to have Omaeda turn around and impress us after taking him down this far.

I have to admit I kinda of winced at Ukitake suggesting a shoulder rub for Yamaji, but Shunsui basically going "Hey, I'M the one who needs the shoulder rub!" (or at least that's how I took it) made it all better.

As for the kids who used to be the 'regular' main cast? Back in the summer I joked "gosh, I hope we get to see Ishida before Xmas!" Now, I'm thinking we might not. 6 months with no Ishida is too freaking long. *pout* (Even if I am enjoying the story.)

The Matsumoto and Hitsugaya exchange was loveliness. The presence of Gin was felt in this chapter without the mention of his name.

I love that pair, Ukitake and Shunsui and having Stark in their presence is total love. I could fangirl Stark from here to tomorrow so don't get me started--!

I thoroughly expect Omeada to kick ass. I wanna see what he's got.

I don't think anyone's going down in this encounter... and now...
will we get the switch to HM? Kubo doesn't like to stay away from his precious Ichigo too long.

Granted it's slightly out of context, but that line made my porny little brain go "poink!" I vote they take care of Stark that way. ;-)

Omaeda's pretty much been the joke-butt of this arc so far, and while he's definitely not my favorite character, Soi Fon could use some taking down (methinks) and Omaeda saving her ass would kind of hit the spot. Interesting -- the only other captain/lieutenant combo I recall where there was so much disrespect from captain to lt was Hirako/Aizen. Not that Omaeda is a criminal mastermind or anything, but it makes you think.

XD I keep wanting to make crochet ones that big and detailed (with weapons and removable clothes and all), but I haven't had the patience to make anything that involved for a while. Oh, those dolls are amazing. Totally amazing...the Princess and the Dragon rendered in their full glory. Brilliant stuff. Full kudos to Pheleon for being unbelievably talented :D

As for the chapter...

What does it take to actually get Ukitake to fight, someone? Even Kyouraku's out to kick butt this time. Ukitake, as ever, looks like he's come to watch the festivities in his dressing gown.

For God's sake, man, you're part of this team too. Friggin' fight already!

(How long have I waited to see Ukitake's Bankai...?)

Of course, there is still the horrible possibility that it's building up to Ukitake's involvement. And that it's going to result in sacrifice...

But I still want to see it :S

He and Kyouraku are still a class double act, though. I love the pair of them...they're never particularly flustered by anything, are they?

Ha ha, I think they've seen so much over the kajillion years that they've been captains that nothing will ever phase them. =] And I do love Ukitake to death (but I go for the pretty ones--shallow, shallow tendencies!). He's just so precious, and I'm worried that the strain of going Bankai will kill him off....

Yeah, I worry about that too. But even so, I want to see it. Because he's a powerful Captain. And the closest we've seen to anything on his part is the brief almost battle with Yamajii, right..?

I want to see more of Sougyo no Kotowari. And evidence that Ukitake's not as weak in body as sometimes he appears to be :)

(If that happens, and Kira kills Gin with Wabisuke, I'll be quite content for this arc...)

Thanks for that link! The artist was selling with Aestheticism at y-con, and had bucketloads of pins and key chains of various characters in that cute chibi style. I bought a released Grimmjow one and an Allen Walker one for myself. :D

This is my first comment here, usually I lurk, and I'm not very good at this, so I hope I don't offend. I really wanted to know why you want Hitsugaya to "have his ass handed to him" though. I think it's about time he's proved he has what it takes to be a captain. In the manga, the only fight he's won was against the arrancar and with Ikkaku, Renji, and Rangiku all doing the same, it didn't really stand out as a particularly interesting victory. There's a lot of hype but his battle record isn't living up to it. If he does lose, I'd like to see him do some serious damage beforehand, especially with these fights coming right after Iba telling Ikkaku he doesn't have what it takes to be a captain.

^__^ No offense taken! I loves to talk power levels! My problem with the Hitsu and Hali match-up is that she's TOP tier, one of the first three Espada and the last time we saw Shiro fight an Espada, he couldn't handle number 10. Think of what Ichigo went against numbers six, five, and four, what the combined efforts of Renji's ban kai and Ishida's Quincy smarts couldn't do against number 8, and there's just NO WAY Shiro-chan should be able to handle Halibel.

Except that this is shounen, and you're right--the set up is there. Hitsugaya definitely has that indeterminable something necessary to be a captain. Kubo mentioned something about that in his last American SJ interview--it takes more than ban kai to make a captain.
I hope we'll see it, but ... it only makes sense that he'll lose or be bailed out at the last moment the way others have been in this arc.

Hitsugaya couldn't hurt Yami, this is true. He handled Luppi pretty well though, and Luppi was 6th at the time. Which I'd completely forgotten about until going back to those chapters. So maybe he does have a chance.

But overall, Hitsugaya hasn't done very well in most of his battles. Mostly, he gets stomped. As much as I love him, at this point it looks like he could easily be replaced by Ikkaku or Renji. He just doesn't seem to be fighting at captain level, which is why I hope he puts up a good fight, even if he loses. Kubo has made him sound like he's pretty awesome, I'd like to see him actually being awesome.

I love the drama that just took place in this chapter; the Hitsugaya and Matsumoto exchange was brilliant: I literally felt eons move in that one shadowed panel of Matsumoto's profile. The art was more lovely than usual, and Stark is made of love, love, love.

And Omaeda is gonna save the day, just you watch. :P
