Ah, I forgot to add *take shipping joy in writing fics* I ship multiple pairs in Bleach, BUT one is above the others. Shipping is weird. Before Bleach, I'd never thought I'd ship anything. I even discovered what a fandom could be with Bleach, even though I watched many animes before, and read many mangas. Why did I step into the Bleach fandom? The first step has to be because of Djudge. His remarkable posts made me join BF. And then, there were some war threads [you know the Holy Trinity, Ichigo, Inoue and Rukia], that made me not only get better at English [ah! all of this because some people made fun of me, because I wasn't able to explain what I saw properly], but made me love the IchiRuki pairing way above the others. And that's when I joined the FC, and decided to begin to write fics [which really really made me improve a lot in English; you wouldn't be reading my DotWs if I never wrote any fic]. It was because people were downgrading so much Rukia's importance in Ichigo's life that I stepped in. When I look at it, I still find the whole fandom weird. I alwasy look at each chapter under a microscope; not only for IchiRuki, but for everything, because I think it's quite interesting to see how Kubo makes the whole thing work. Now I enjoy a lot writing. I think it's fun, and it cures my boredom when Rukia is away XD
Oh, I think that mostly real life got him back there. That and at a time, he couldn't keep up with all the new members, finding only a few interesting. So he kind of got dragged away, which I cannot blame him. I got dragged away too before coming back [it was last summer]. Maybe he'll come back. Or not. I'd like it if he'd come back though, because I'm curious to have his point of view on all the new chapters etc.
I've said before that I'll try anything that has a girl in it, but I have my preferences. I'm not into shipping arguments, partly because I'm shy about opening up and partly because there are more interesting things to discuss, but if there weren't anything better to do I could see myself discussing, at length, the merits and weaknesses of certain pairings.
And I hate the term "post-modern" on purely semantic principle. Unless you have a fucking time machine, you're not allowed to use it.
Now you leave me curious as to what of mine you were reading. ;)
I . . . hm. Don't try to argue anything as canon, but do prefer some pairings as opposed to other pairings. (And really, one can manage just about anything pretty, as long as you use a big enough hammer and jump up and down on the bits that are sticking out.)
(goes back to hitting Doctor Who/Bleach crossover with a similar hammer)
(And really, one can manage just about anything pretty, as long as you use a big enough hammer and jump up and down on the bits that are sticking out.)
Oh true, true, but the hammer can sometimes distract from the story. I suppose that's why some people can fly OOC and A/U (and weirdly enough, very good writing can make OOC plausible: such as, providing circumstances where this character behave his way or do this unusual thing).
:3 Well, if you want crazy. . .last time at the library I checked out an extra stack of books on queer theory along with the pile on collage simply in order to be able more plausibly to argue that one of my pairs of choice is Almost Canon/there is intent/subtext/room for imagination/something there. XD And I frequently have 'has to be physically restrained from writing 3000 word essays in defense of this pairing or that' moments. . .I don't know quite *what* it is that makes one exclusive about a pairing, really--there are lots of pairings I like and lots I'm not interested in, especially, but only 3 or 4 that I almost can't *stand* to see broken up in favor of another pairing. ^^
I have my pairing preferences in Bleach, of which there are many, but it's not an orgy in my head. I don't see anyone with anyone. But I've never been so into the scene, even in my own fandom, to enter into a shipping battle. !ploo doesn't really lend itself to that, thankfully.
Samurai Champloo had the whole OF COURSE IT'S JIN AND FUU thing for a while. And then there are the people who rant against the yaoi. But yeah, lots of acceptance of 3-ways! ^____^
In my experience, Mugen/Fuu shippers outnumber the Jin/Fuu shippers about 2 to 1. I'd say the fanfiction reflects that as well. Of course, yaoi pairings come in third, ship-wise. Maybe even behind the threeway folks. ^_^
Nothing is canon until the author makes it so Hahaha, I would admit that the above is so my spiel. And was what made me jump into the shipping fandom in the first place, when normally I'm happy just leeching the canon and staying at the sidelines of fandom. I ship multiple pairings with varying degrees of like, and one I like far more than the others. I think shipping should be for fun and when things start to get un-fun (like some of the hotter ship debates I've seen), I'd rather back out because I don't think it's worth my time. Every now and then I can be triggered to debate to some things if I really feel something needs replying. But nowadays I'm just too busy to even do that. (Perhaps I'm getting old.)

It isn't, that's so true. What's hilarious is that even when I pretend to back away and I don't dare post, I'm always lurking around and peeking at some of the crazy arguments and posts.
In Bleach, I can go for pretty much anything. I prefer to read about Ishida/rihime and Ichigo/Ishida, but have yet to find a pairing I really object to.
All the characters are so damn interesting, that's true. Ryuuken/Uryuu makes me shudder, though. Other than that, I've even surprised myself by enjoying one or two IchiOri's.

Date: 2007-01-29 05:28 am (UTC)hah, I write fic too when there's not enough Bleach to read. I guess that means I have to write every day but the day the chapter comes out?
Seems like that's what I've been doing lately!
And yeah, Djudge rocks. He's amazing. He hasnt been around BF lately--what's up with that?

I cut my teeth on the stuff in the 90's literature world, though. The schools would shut up about it. I'm a recovering post-modernist.

Uryuu with anyone. Yes, Uryuu with ANYONE.
