Great Bleach Tangents

Discussion for the weekend.

Beyond the many Ban Kai Kubo has yet to show us and all the debatable growing up the kids have to do, there are so many unresolved tangents in Bleach that it would take Sensei  a nice ten years at least to thoroughly pick up all the loose threads, wouldn't you say? Given our manga-ka's propensity for dropping a thread and then picking it up a hundred or more chapters later, Bleach can sometimes resemble a very wooly carpet.

What are some of your favorite loose threads and what do you think are the chances of their being woven back into the glorious Bleachverse tapestry in some spectacular way?

For example, I've always been slightly pissed that we never got a resolution to the fact that Ishida had all those spy bacteria in him by Mayuri--did he get them out? Did Orihime undo that nasty business when she healed him? But I'm resigned to the fact that this loose thread may not be very important to the Master Tapestry. More important is the fact that Aizen got locked away with the hougyoku still inside him. And how about that BIG GIANT CLUE that Kubo threw in chapter 00b about Rukia's mystery visit to Earth with Kiyone--that's overdue some explanation. Rukia's connection to hougyoku. How about Orihime's vow to destroy the hougyoku? That got brought up in one panel and never touched about again. Don't even get me started about Orihime hints of development from Kubo that have gotten nerfed.

So, while we're all cozying up to some guaranteed Isshin backstory now, there's still a LOT of unresolved Bleach to bitch about. What are your favorite seemingly forgotten tangents? (I'm sure Sensei hasn't forgotten them--he's just slow and sadistic XD)

Some Renji/Momo friendship would be the most wonderful thing. No, even better: Renji/Momo/Kira, because heaven knows those three make a great story. I love it when Kubo allows us to see those three together.

I love this pairing and it has so much potential. And I don't need any romance. I'd like that, of course, but I love their friendship as well. :3 I'd really like a KiraMomo something when we get back to SS. And add Renji in as well.

Me too. It's pretty obvious Kira has a thing for Momo, but I'm not sure if that's going to be played out, or even shown as much as we'd like. But I'd like to optimistic and pray for a scene for either all three or just Izuru and Momo.

Oh yea, there's definitely lots of Kira ---> Momo. But, with Kira, I don't know if he'll act on those feelings. I see him as quietly loving her from the outside and being happy as long as she's happy.

Plus there's HitsuHina, so yea...

Any moments are fine for me, haha. I'll take what I can get. XD

HitsuHina doesn't seem to be the pairing Kubo would draw out. But, hey, what do I know? It's probably me being biased; I actually don't think those two would get along romantically. (In fact...I don't see many people being with Toushirou romantically...hmmm)

The Kira/Momo relationship seems to be a theme in Bleach, much like the Uryuu/Orihime characteristics. I just hope that happens, because if it doesn't, I'll be one of the saddest fans ever.

Ah, I always saw Hitsuhina more as a brother/sister relationship. But, I wouldn't be surprised if it becomes more romantic *shrugs*

It does remind me of Ishihime. I love the relationship because of the similarities in experiences that they both shared. I mean, if anyone knows what Momo is going through, it's Kira, since he acted in the same way. Both were manipulated and went against their friends. One thing I've always wanted to see was a Kira/Momo moment where they bond over their crappy captains <3

If KiraMomo doesn't become canon, sure, I'll be bummed, but I wouldn't be surprised..

That's very true. Kira and Momo know each other's pains and what the other is going through. I think it will be awhile until they realize that themselves, but maybe they'll get around to it.

Agreed HitsuHina is a lot like RenRuki for me it's platonic,alothough in renji's case I know he loved Rukia at least more than a friend at one point but never on her part.KiraHina I like but that reminds me of IshiHime in a sense that I don't know if Kira or Ishida would ever act on thier feelings.

Totally. HitsuHina and RenRukia are much too platonic in my eyes to be seen in a romantic light. But I don't mean to degrade the relationships; what they have is so special.

That's what I'm afraid of; that they won't take the initiative to let them know. At least in Kira's case, Renji knows about his affections for Momo and can give him a gentle push. But I don't believe anyone may have picked up Uryuu's feelings for Orihime (well, maybe Ryuuken but I don't think his father is up to playing matchmaker).

Speaking for the other side here... I've always thought that HitsuHina had a bit more chemistry than KiraHina, because Momo and Toshiro always bickered and teased each other--I don't really see that with Kira and Momo. Though, I will admit that Kira and Momo didn't get that much screen time compared to Toshiro and Momo (although someone should correct me on this, as I may just not remember the KiraMomo scenes).

I'm crossing my fingers for IshiHime though--the interactions between them at the beginning of the timeskip seemed promising... >.< Or maybe it's just my delusional mind talking.

Interesting. I just remember how Izuru and Momo spent years together in the academy. Even train together. But, I suppose I see what you mean. HitsuHina isn't my cup of tea because I see too many brother/sister vibes, but I don't think that should take away from their relationship.

If IshiHime happens, I'll be a bit surprised, just because it seems that's the pairing that has most potential.
