I'm glad you got the sad because I was feeling the sad thinking and writing of it. Kubo pulled off the impossible when he made me feel for Nnoi--I think of that mountain of corpses and Nnoi and the giant moon and it's not a horrific picture--it's so overwhelmingly lonely. Those last scenes with Nel just GOT me, oh oh oh.
Nel just wants to stop the fighting whichever way she can. Emotionally stunted and a foul-mouthed woman stuck in the body of a toddler--it makes sense.
